SOUNDBITE: (Arabic) Ismail Haniyeh, Palestinian Prime Minister "There is a mass escalation against the Palestinian people and government, targeting to make them kneel down, but the Palestinian people are a great people who will never kneel down for anyone, except for God. SOUNDBITE: (English) Mahmoud Zahar, Palestinian Foreign Minister "This is part of the Israeli policy in cooperation with foreigners in order to give the impression that this new government is unable to provide for the Palestinian security, good economical situation, and other internal affairs. We are going to win and we are going to succeed. The popularity of Hamas will be increased and the people will back this government until the end." 8. Wide shot Zahar STORYLINE: Palestinian leaders said on Saturday that the government was following developments after deadly factional fighting in Gaza ended in three deaths. Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh said "Since the clashes have happened, the Palestinian government has been in an open meeting, following all the developments until very late last night". "The current culture in Palestinian society over the last years needs time to be changed for the benefit of law and order as well as not to use arms under any condition, and that law would be the rule in any event," Haniyeh said. Haniyeh said the fighting had created a "dangerous" situation, adding that his security forces would try to get some of the gunmen off the streets. His comments came a day after a top militant was killed in a car bomb. The killing set off exchanges of fire that killed three Palestinians and wounded 36. The militant, Abu Yousef Abu Quka, had ties to Haniyeh's Hamas party, and his supporters accused the Preventive Security Service, dominated by loyalists of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' defeated Fatah Party, of killing Abu Quka. Arriving for a meeting with foreign and Arab diplomats Haniyeh said top security officials were trying to end tensions. Foreign Minister Mahmoud Zahar said: "This is part of the Israeli policy in cooperation with foreigners in order to give the impression that this new government is unable to provide for the Palestinian security, good economical situation, and other internal affairs. "We are going to win and we are going to succeed. The popularity of Hamas will be increased and the people will back this government until the end," Zahar said.
