It is dedicated to Lord Trivikram, a form of the Hindu god Vishnu. The temple was built around the 6th century AD and has a special shape that looks more like a Buddhist stupa, rather than a typical Hindu temple. This shows a time when builders who made Buddhist structures started creating Hindu temples as well. It is said that revered saints like Sant Namdev and Sant Goroba Kumbhar once sang devotional songs (kirtans) here, making it an even more important spiritual place. Remarkably, when a big earthquake hit in 1993, the temple was completely unharmed, showing the skill and strength of its ancient builders. The village of Ter, which was once called Tagar during the time of the Satavahana rulers, was once an important trading center.
