Position your vehicle along side the vehicle you intend to park behind, leaving a gap between the two of ½ metre. Make sure your vehicle door mirror is in-line with the front Bumper of the other vehicle or both vehicles level, if parking behind a long vehicle, such as a Van or an Estate Car. · Position your body for reversing, seat belt off or right arm free of belt. · SELECT REVERSE GEAR and apply the FOOTBRAKE, the Reverse and Brake warning lights will inform others of your intention · Look all around for safety, giving way to all oncoming vehicles from the front as well as rear, don't forget the pedestrians. · Move the vehicle SLOWLY looking through the rear Window and left hand rear door Window. STOP when you can see the rear or front (if vehicle is parked in the opposite direction) of the vehicle in the middle of your left hand rear door Window and take another look all around. · Move the vehicle SLOWLY while turning the steering wheel ONE REVOLUTION to the left, and then take a quick glance ahead and blind spot for safety. · Look through the rear Window and door mirror as the vehicle nears the kerb, STOP the vehicle when the door handle of the left front door is positioned on top of the edge of the kerb, this will look like a optical illusion. Look all around for safety. · Look through the rear Window while you turn the steering wheel FULL LOCK QUICKLY to the right, then look through the left hand door mirror to make sure the vehicle does not hit the kerb, if so, stop the vehicle and move forward. Look back through the rear Window and turn steering wheel QUICKLY to the left two complete turns to straighten front wheels( You may look forward to achieve the same result). When the vehicle is parallel STOP, there should not be enough room for another vehicle to park in the space left between the two vehicles.
