BEAUMONT-By: Leslie RangelA second grader at Blanchette Elementary, Gavin McCline, went to his second day of school today expecting to learn about math.Instead, he got a surprise he's been anticipating for a year. When Army Sgt. 1st Class Gary McCline walked in the door at Blanchette Elementary, he was beginning his long awaited journey from his deployment in Cuba to room 208 here at the school. Sgt. McCline said he was nervous as he walked down the tile hallway. His son Gavin, was right in the middle of class. Gavin's teacher Mrs. Harrison told her students, cameras were at school doing a back-to-school story. On his second day of school, his mind was on the numbers, with no idea he'd get to see his dad after more than 300 days. I'm just ready to see all my sons, Sgt. McCline said. His three sons had all been taken to Blanchette to see their dad for the first time since he returned home. As soon as their dad walked through the door, Gavin ran to his dad to greet him after nearly a year. An army soldier seeing his sons after coming back from serving his country. Gavin thought it was surreal, I've missed him so much and I still can't believe he's really here right now, Gavin said. A family reunited to help start the new school year. Sergeant McCline's other two sons, JaGarrien and Grayson were both taken to Blanchette to also greet their dad with Gavin. The McClines did not return to class today; Instead, they planned on going out to eat together.
