This game looks amazing! This is the sequel to Trouble Shooter which also got a release in the US. Battle Mania Daiginjou was Japan only, but there are fan translations so you don't miss out on what little story there is. The story cutscenes are actually cute so the translation does help. I'm a big fan of shooters and this one is a bit unconventional. You play as two anime girls. The blue haired one can be switched to shoot left or right while the blonde one can only shoot to the right. Also, only the blonde one can be damaged. What makes it really confusing, though, is that they don't move at the same speed. I keep looking at the blue anime because it's the more prominent sprite and the blonde one is already a lot further away and gets hit because I didn't pay attention to the correct character. Oh, and if you get squished by getting stuck on a wall while auto-scrolling, you lose all your hp and game over. You do have continues though. It is not an easy game so this gets quite frustrating in my opinion. This is the main reason I didn't want to spend the whole afternoon recording a good run on a higher difficulty. I just wanted to experience the game, and it does deliver, but it doesn't have deep enough scoring mechanics to motivate truly learning the game. When you beat the game, the score caps out at 999999 anyway. So, yes, the game is absolutely worth playing and a lot of fun! The backgrounds look amazing and are, in my opinion, some of the best on the system. Music and controls are good too and the characters are funny. Maybe I should also check out the first game, Trouble Shooter.
