For this video we’ll show the Hard Reset procedure for a PowerPlex 2000 lock when the user does not know the Master Code. A Hard Reset will return the lock to Factory Mode which includes deleting all codes, resetting the factory default values, and making the Master Code 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8. Pump the handle until the green LED is illuminated. Next, on the inside or back housing, remove the top right screw holding the lock to the door. Insert a long non-metallic blunt ended tool in the screw hole to press and hold the Reset to Factory Default button. With Reset to Factory Default button depressed you have up to 5 seconds to push ‘#’ and release the Reset to Factory Default button. The lock display the “Reset Sequence in Progress” message by flashing green and red lights alternatively once every second. When the user does not know the Master Code, the user must not enter anything during the 20 second delay. When the 20 seconds delay is exhausted, a 15 minutes wait period will begin. During that state, any operation on the lock will be ignored. The green LED will not blink when pressing keys and Green and Red LED’s will blink once a minute. After the 15 minutes delay has been exhausted, the “Reset Sequence in Progress” message will display on the LED’s again for 20 seconds. During this period, the user must enter the numerical sequence 1-2-3-4-5-6-7 and 8 followed by the ‘#’ button and the lock will reset. If the user fails to follow the exact procedure, the reset sequence will abort and the lock will resume normal operation. Re-install the top right screw holding the lock to the door. This concludes the Hard Reset procedure with an unknown Master Code for the PowerPlex 2000 lock.
