These cupcakes are sooo easy to make, you just mix everything together in a bowl and you're ready to bake! I tried to pack as much nutrients into these cupcakes as possible, like whole wheat and oats, fruits and veggies from carrots and bananas, pumpkin, or apple sauce. Eggs for a shiny coat and peanut butter mixed with greek yogurt for flavor and more protein! I topped them with a dog treat, so people will know they are for dogs, because they look just like a real cupcake from a bakery for humans. Humans can definitely eat these too, as they are made with all real, wholesome ingredients, but they don't have any added sugar, so they will not be sweet like the typical cupcakes or muffins you're used to eating. Let me know in the comments! ♡♡♡ THE RECIPE! ♡♡♡ Pup-Cakes (Cupcakes for Dogs) Yield: 6 standard or 12 mini cupcakes Ingredients Cupcakes: 1 cup whole wheat flour 1/4 cup old fashioned oats 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder 1 cup mashed banana, pumpkin puree, or unsweetened applesauce 1/4 cup natural peanut butter or coconut oil 1/4-1/2 cup shredded carrots 2 large eggs Frosting: 1/2 cup greek yogurt or 4oz cream cheese 1/4 cup creamy peanut butter 6 small dog treats, for garnish Directions Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Spray a cupcake pan with non-stick cooking spray or line it with 6 baking cups; set aside. In a large bowl, combine all cupcake ingredients, mixing thoroughly. Divide the batter evenly between 6 cups. Bake for 15-20 minutes (10-12 for mini cupcakes), or until a tester inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely before frosting. In a medium bowl, combine yogurt and peanut butter. Frost completely cooled cupcakes. Top with a dog treat, if desired. Remove baking cups before serving. Note: These pupcakes are special occasion treats. I don't suggest giving these to your dog as often as regular dog treats. If you have a small dog, you can make mini pupcakes, or cut them into quarters.
