McLeod Ganj, a suburb of Dharamshala in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, India. Also known as "Little Lhasa" or "Dhasa" because of its large population of Tibetans. The Tibetan government-in-exile is headquartered in McLeod Ganj. Triund is a ridge that overlooks the Dhauladhar Himachal Range. The ridge elevation is between 2,810 and 2,875 metres. It is a one-day, easy to moderate trek. The trek distance is 10 kilometers (one way) from McLeod Ganj bus stand and under 6 kilometers (one way) from Galu Devi temple near Dharamkot. You can take your car up to Galu Devi temple and park it near the tea stall. From Galu temple, the trail starts as a gentle ascent to Magic View café, the halfway point. That takes about an hour. After the café, the ascent is a tad steeper, finally culminating in a steep one-kilometer stretch through a forest of deodars and rhododendron. This stretch through the woods is known as 22 Curves, because of the 22 switchbacks on the way to Triund. It takes a total of 3-4 hours to reach the peak from the base point. From the top of Triund, the Himalayas are visible on one side and Dharamshala city on the other side.
