When nine-year-old Ana Kemper's (Riva Krymalowski) father, Arthur (Oliver Masucci), a Jewish Journalist persecuted by the National Socialist regime, is forced to flee Germany in 1933, Ana, along with her mother Dorothea (Carla Juri) and twelve-year-old brother Max (Marinus Hohmann) quickly follow him. Leaving her childhood home and beloved stuffed pink rabbit behind, Ana embarks on a new life, first in Switzerland, then France, and ultimately England. Through the family's journey, Ana discovers the resilient power of the human spirit that emerges when one faces humanity's darkest sides. Winner of the Outstanding Children or Youth Film at the 2020 German Film Awards. Caroline Link‘s career as a director began with immediate success both at the national and international level when her first feature film BEYOND SILENCE (1996) was nominated for an Academy Award® as Best Foreign Language Film in 1997. After completing her second feature film, ANNALUISE AND ANTON (1999), a children’s movie based on the Erich Kästner novel of the same name, she directed NOWHERE IN AFRICA (2001), which won the Academy Award® for Best Foreign Language Film in 2003. In 2013, she directed EXIT MARRAKECH, which premiered as a Special Presentation at the Toronto IFF and won the Gryphon Award for Best Film at the Giffoni IFF. Her Film ALL ABOUT ME (2018) went on to win numerous awards. WHEN HITLER STOLE PINK RABBIT is Caroline Link’s latest feature film as a director.
