Sepah Street in Qazvin is the first designed street in Iran to be built during the Safavid era. It was built by Shah Tahmasp in the Hesar Shapur neighborhood, at the same time as the construction of the Saadat-Abad Garden and the Dolatkhaneh building. The street's name may be the name of a neighborhood in Herat where the Shah lived when he was the crown prince. Sepah Street extends from Sardar-e-Ali Qapu to the front of the Qazvin Grand Mosque. Isfahan's Chaharbagh Street is an evolved version of Sepah Street. The Ali Qapu Gate at the beginning of this street was one of the seven entrances to the Safavid royal citadel. However, today the only remaining part of the citadel is this gate. The gate building includes a tall porch with a pointed arch and three arches on both sides. Earrings with brick colonnades on two floors complete the facade of the gate. The gate vestibule, which is connected to the entrance porch of the palace, is also part of this building. An inscription with mosaic tiles and the Thuluth script of Ali Reza Abbasi, the famous Safavid calligrapher, completes the beauty of this building. This building was changed to the police station during the first Pahlavi period and is now in the possession of cultural heritage. The Ali Qapu Gate is also one of the sights of Qazvin, registered in the list of national monuments. The Old Tehran Gate, the beginning of the Tehran-Qazvin road during the Qajar era Qazvin used to have 9 gates to different cities in Iran. Today, only two gates remain from this complex. The Tehran Gate protected the city of Qazvin from attacks by thieves and bandits during the Qajar era. The beautiful architecture and charming tilework of this gate date back to the era of Nasser al-Din Shah Qajar.
