This is a detailed video showing how to remove the air-conditioning compressor pulley from an R230 Mercedes SL55 AMG. The same compressor is used in a variety of different Mercedes and other German cars including Audi A4 and BMW. The compressor pulley hub plate, is specifically designed to shear when the compressor seizes up or the bearing collapses. When your compressor bearing is on the way out, you will often hear a whining and once the bearing collapses, you will hear a terrible clattering sound from the engine and the AC pulley will be wobbling from side to side. If you don’t fix this problem, the pulley and belt will fly off into the engine bay potentially causing serious and expensive damage.
