Recorded Thursday, May 20th, 7:00 pm (EDT) Join Antioch University New England alumnus Alex Shevrin Venet for a book talk celebrating the release of her new book Equity-Centered Trauma-Informed Education. Alex’s work examines trauma-informed education through an equity and social justice lens. Schools can do more than respond to the trauma that some students have already experienced; they can play a key role in preventing trauma and disrupting the larger social forces that create trauma in our world. Equity-Centered Trauma-Informed Education is a fresh take on trauma-informed practices, with takeaways for teachers, school leaders, and anyone else who is invested in making change in education. Alex will introduce participants to the framework and key understandings from the book, sharing stories from her work as a teacher and supporting schools with trauma-informed education. Laura Thomas, director of Antioch’s Experienced Educator’s program (not to mention Alex’s grad school advisor, friend and mentor), will host and facilitate a discussion and Q&A. There will also be a raffle for two attendees to receive a free copy of the book.
