🎣 2025 Hook & Paddle Classic – Sept 20–21, Nackawic NB 🌊🍂 This year’s HP CLASSIC ~ NACKAWIC ~ had it all – freezing mornings, frost-covered kayaks, thick fog, whipping wind, and whitecaps… but also calm, sunny fall beauty. Our qualified anglers across 3 provinces battled the elements, and the fish, for two days straight in a true test of grit and strategy. And our viewers had a chance to follow the action LIVE as we had our 1st ever LIVE Coverage of the 2-day event! Day 1 Recap (Sept 20): The morning bite was decent, but as the wind picked up, finding fish became a real grind. By the end of the day, the top 5 leaderboard looked like this: 🥇 Rene Pelletier (NB) – 88.00" 🥈 Peter Nyenhuis (NB) – 84.75" 🥉 Justin Hines (NS) – 84.25" 4️⃣ Ben Woo (NB) – 79.00" 5️⃣ Andrew Wadden (NS) – 77.75" Day 2 Recap (Sept 21): Another frosty launch gave way to heavy fog that lingered for hours. Once the sun burned through, anglers were treated to glassy water and gorgeous scenery – but a tougher bite for many. The top performers on Day 2 were: 🥇 Justin Hines (NS) – 94.00" 🥈 Matthew Paton (NS) – 86.50" 🥉 Rene Pelletier (NB) – 85.50" 4️⃣ Gary Lynch (NS) – 81.75" 5️⃣ Peter Nyenhuis (NB) – 81.50" Overall Top 5 – 2025 Hook & Paddle Classic: 🥇 Justin Hines (NS) – 178.25" 🏆 → Takes home $1000 + a spot as one of the 2026 Team Canada Kayak Fishing Representatives! 🇨🇦 🥈 Rene Pelletier (NB) – 173.50" → Wins $500 💰 🥉 Peter Nyenhuis (NB) – 166.25" → Wins $250 💵 4️⃣ Matthew Paton (NS) – 163.25" 5️⃣ Gary Lynch (NS) – 155.75" 🐟 Lunker Award: John Cail hauled in a 19.75" bass, earning himself the 506 Tackle Supply X Zone Lures prize pack + $100 cash! 🎁 📸 Over the course of the weekend, anglers submitted 323 verified photos of bass and many more caught and released - showcasing once again the incredible fishery we have here in New Brunswick. Huge thank you to all anglers, volunteers, and sponsors who made this year’s Classic a success. The competition was fierce, the camaraderie unmatched, and the memories will last a lifetime. We couldn't have held this event without partners like Destination Nackawic Tim Fox & Fredericton Capital Region Tourism Pat Olsen coming alongside us to ensure the facilities, food, photos and community support was there to welcome us!
