The latter won four medals at world competitions as a player, his greatest success being the 2005 world championship title, which he won together with Chema Rodríguez, who managed the Hungarian team. Dominik Máthé, Levente Hári, Pedro Rodríguez Álvarez and László Bartucz were left out of the Hungarian squad that had been training together since Monday. The hosts started much more accurately, almost flawlessly, and took a 3–0 lead, but the Hungarian national team's defense soon became more effective, resulting in quick counterattacks and goals (3–5). After about 14 minutes, Chema Rodríguez started the substitutions at a score of 6–8, and although the Austrians were able to equalize, the youngsters also “shaken up” in the match, with the more experienced Sipos Adrián, Ligetvári Patrik, Rosta Miklós, and in goal Kristóf Palasics giving the team support. At the end of a 5–1 run, the difference was already four goals, and at the break, Bánhidi Bencé and his team led 16–13. The Hungarian team did not start the second half with the same lineup as at the beginning of the match, the coach changed the lineup again, the only consistency was the two line-ups. The hosts fought back with a 3–0 series, the Hungarian defense was again not effective enough, but the team preserved its advantage with brilliant individual solutions from Gergő Fazekas. The extremely hectic match became close again towards the end, but Arián Andó prevented the home team from turning the game around with his brilliant saves. Kristóf Palasics contributed with nine saves and one goal, and Arián Andó with eight saves. On the other side, Mykola Bilyk scored six, Tobias Wagner and Sebastian Frimmel scored five times each, and Leon Bergmann and Constantin Möstl each saved five shots. In the 51st match between the two teams, this was the 37th Hungarian victory, with 12 Austrian wins and two draws. The Hungarian team is preparing for next year's European Championship, and in the group stage they will face Poland on January 16, Italy on the 18, and Iceland on the 20 in Kristianstad. The top two teams will advance to the semi-finals. #handball #håndbold #sports #handballworld
