Jun 27, 2022. My bushwhack into Crooked Lake in 2022 began with hiking the Upper South Pond Trail from Bear Pond Road to the eponymous pond in a rarely visited portion of the Five Ponds Wilderness Area of the northwestern Adirondack Park. The hike follows an old jeep trail that is frequently wet, requiring numerous detours. The purpose of this trip was to gather field data about bird species breeding habits for the New York State Breeding Bird Atlas III. Note: This video is in a raw form, that is, it has only been lightly edited, annotated and/or altered. The footage remains mostly as I experienced it while bushwhacking through the Adirondack Park backcountry, just as nature intended it. Be forewarned, loud noises will arise from branches, hands, hiking poles, etc. hitting the camera.
