Allthough driving the Russian Arm is mostly about precision and slow speeds, I do encounter the odd job every now and then where I get to push the limits a bit. This particular video was shot while filming a commercial for Hyundai in the deep forests of Finland. We were asked to go as fast as possible on a narrow gravel stage, being chased by Dani in his Hyundai i20 World Rally Car. At the time, the Russian Arm was loaded with a total of six people, making the total weight close to 3500kg! In order to make the car as suitable as possible for this shoot, we were on Michelin X-Ice winter tires. Luckily we have long since upgraded our suspension to fully adjustable Õhlins coilovers, a must to keep this car firmly on the road. I must say the car handled this task exceptionally well. I was able to push pretty hard, reaching speeds that caught both us and Dani by surprise. All while staying well within the safety margins we need to maintain for this kind of vehicle.
