In a group discussion with a number of key players, Farid Tabarki highlighted the importance of collaboration in the creative sector. Giel Groothuis noted how the collective presentation of Dutch designers through the Workspace helps these designers gain a recognisable presence in the Chinese market. The 'umbrella brand' that DDWS radiates sends the message that creative entrepreneurs can be found here to fulfil China's needs. Rob Huisman added that, by joining forces as the Federation of Dutch Creative Industries, the creative sector is claiming its place at the table where government policy is hammered out. The BNA has made significant advances in internationalisation through the experience acquired within DutchDFA. Fred Schoorl described how Dutch architects came to sit at the table with the Turkish housing ministry/development company TOKI, thanks to DutchDFA. Not only were they able to formulate solutions to Turkish social issues based on lesson learned in Dutch housing history, but there were also concrete business opportunities for Dutch firms. Harry Starren commented in response that the creative industry sector in the Netherlands is vibrant, and organised according to modern networking. That puts it in an ideal position to address the social and economic challenges of our time, through mutual cooperation and smart networking. Machteld Kors (UN Studio) felt that the players in the architecture sector managed to link up more effectively through DutchDFA. The follow-up programme, with its emphasis on entrepreneurship, makes it possible to take the next step: to find new work for architects through collaboration.
