Usually useful operating voltage for each HPL (high power LED) CREE is 2.75 Volt to 3.25 Volt. over 3.25 Volt, the LED wil brighter but Lumen per Watt decreases its means decreases in efficiency. producing much heat & needs proper heatsink. below 2.75 Volt, the LED wil more efficient, Lumen per Watt increases but more dimmer and may not suitable for ideally every lighting. so if 2 HPL (high power LED) CREE arranged in series then set the output voltage of the DC converter in the voltage range 5.5 to 6.5 Volts. although a DC step up converter is not a real driver for LEDs, but it can be used to control the LEDs .... the results can also be compared with the original LED driver, as long as the batteries used have sufficient capacity and good condition. for the configuration that I use it, it can generate a stable (virtually constant) current of about +/- 750 mA at a 6.5 Volts. approaching nearly 5 Watt, i can say the results is in same level with the light from Phillips 6 Watt LED lamps. Noteworthy, to get a stable current output (which is very important for stable light on HPL LED), the input battery must have a large capacity (if possible ie 5000 mAh or more) and the conditions are good.... DC converter produces an output voltage that is stable but will probably not produce a constant current input when using a Li-Ion battery with small capacity or bad condition ... this project can be used for: dimmable led driver (simply turns screw on potentiometer to decrease or increase the voltage output) emergency lamp (lowering voltage converter output can increase usage time, smaller in Watt & light more dim) portable outdoor lighting camera lighting workbench lighting portable spotlight (needs reflectors for extended range) you can buy DC-DC step up converter module, on this product link https://goo.gl/7UhYXD
