My wife and I have reached the age where a little help with readers is becoming a reality...I've worn contacts for a long time, but haven't needed readers until recently. The ones we've purchased have been cheap ones and those don't come with a case like my regular glasses do so I thought I'd make one instead. I had a cut off from a Hemlock board that I couldn't bring myself to throw away that I decided to use. I think Hemlock is a beautiful wood...but don't often see things made with it. I have made a number of continuous grain boxes...but always with horizontal grain. I thought it would be fun to try one with the grain running vertically...I think it turned out nice. I was going to use Hemlock on the ends as well...but, in the end I decided to cap the box with some Cocobolo scrap that I had. Hope you enjoy this.
