In this video, Dr. Suma Ganesh, Head of Paediatric Ophthalmologhy and Strabismus, Dr. Shroff's Charity Eye Hospital, New Delhi. Cataract can occur in children also. During the antenatal checkup, it is important to do TORCH titre test of the mother. If it is not done, then the baby may be born with rubella cataract or cytomegalovirus induced cataract. She will also talk about the line of treatment when the cataract is been diagnosed. The pediatrician should refer directly to ophthalmologist. If the cataract is central and larger, it needs to be operated as early as six weeks of age.
