Stage Name: "Run Through the Jungle" Start in the box with loaded pistol, cruiser-ready rifle. On buzzer, engage the right popper, the center silhouette behind true hard cover, and the left popper 3 times each in sweeps. The last shot on the left popper is a dropped-mag Virginia Count shot to clear the pistol. Holster, and transition to your rifle. Move forward through three rifle positions: prone from behind a fallen log, crouching behind a spikey root ball, and then freestyle from a particularly large stump. From each rifle position, engage the 75 yard flasher target with the caliber-appropriate number of hits: 1 for battle rifles, 2 for intermediate rifles, and 3 for pistol calibers. Finally, from the last position, you have the option of attempting to spin a 75 yard rifle spinner for a 60 second bonus. Oh, one last thing: You are either wearing or carrying (NOT dragging) Mr. Jingles, who is a sack of 40 to 50 pounds of loose brass who dearly wishes to acquaint you and your center of gravity with the forest floor. A relatively smooth first stage of the match for me, and a ton of fun. Pistol was largely trivial here, but it was quite fun to be shooting at a target with true hard cover. That stump was well and chewed up at the end of the match! Mr. Jingles was a real bitch, but if you were deliberate about your movements, it was quite manageable - e.g., don't try to stand up across the slope of the ground. I went prone for the final position because it was the final position, I had a bipod, and going prone would take Mr. Jingles out of the sight picture equation, though both Mr. Jingles and the armor messed with my shoulder-weld a bit and I didn't do as well on the spinner as I should have. Still, a strong start to the day and a very fun stage!
