things you'll need: dirt water a stick string 2 small containers 1 big container basil and tomato seed, any kind plastic wrap patience a warm place some light in that place that's all you need. nothing needs to be any brand, type or specific thing. if you kill the first plants, plant more. you can get everything here for free; your local library probably has a seed bank where you can get tomato and basil seeds. plant a few, save a few in case those die so you can try again. you'll need to check every other day while the seeds start, then a few times a week after that, to make sure they don't dry out. the hotter and sunnier it is where you put the container, the more often you'll need to water. any kind of fertilizer is truly optional- tomatoes do like calcium, so you may want to buy calmag or ask a gardener nearby for a little bit to put in the water as they grow. this video was made for my stepson, who is 21 and has no time or materials for gardening; the questions and concerns he had were the reason I made this. you don't need lots of spare time or stuff to grow something to eat, for fun. you don't need to be nervous about planting stuff. some things die and some things grow, it's ok to make mistakes. both plants in this video are very forgiving too, and are harder to mess up. but if you do kill them, just plant another one.
