Model My Watershed® (ModelMW) is a watershed-modeling web application that enables conservationists, citizens, educators, and others to analyze real land use and soil data in their neighborhoods and watersheds to model storm water runoff and water-quality impacts at the subwatershed level. You can read more about this tool, and others, in AFT's A Guide to Water Quality, Climate, Social, and Economic Outcomes Estimation Tools: Quantifying Outcomes to Accelerate Farm Conservation Practice Adoption: https://bit.ly/3WYHWZg. During the webinar, Model My Watershed tool developers demonstrate how to use the tool to quantify the water quantity and quality outcomes associated with practice adoption in farm conservation projects. Specifically, they: 1. Explain how to use Model My Watershed to (1) select an area of interest from the map and generate a multitude of statistics that describe watershed characteristics, (2) deploy modeling tools to estimate annual average water quantity and quality statistics for that area of interest, (3) implement agricultural and urban best management practices for water quantity/quality outcomes, and (4) compare and contrast scenarios. 2. Discuss the appropriate scale at which to use the various modeling options and how to interpret the results. 3. Provide examples from other restoration planning and assessment projects that have utilized the tool. 4. Provide information on how to save and share projects, how software and modeling professionals can utilize API resources embedded within the tool and introduce other water monitoring tools associated with WikiWatershed.org. With support from EPA and the Walton Family Foundation, American Farmland Trust is providing project managers with an Outcomes Estimation Tools Training Webinar Series to aid in their quantification of outcomes associated with farm conservation practices. The webinars will be the first Wednesday of each month starting May 2023 and will run through 2024.
