#bengalclassicalmusicfestival ┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉ Legendary Ustad Zakir Hussain started off his magical tabla recital with presenting teentaal while Sabir Khan, son of late sarangi maestro Ustad Sultan Khan, played Raga Madhukauns on his sarangi. Set on various kayda on teentaal, Ustad Zakir Hussain produced heavenly sounds. The legend's fingers seemed like magical wands that transparently generated each and every stroke incorporating standing rhythms on baya and aesthetic beats on two tablas. Appreciating the arrangement of the biggest classical music festival of its kind in the world, Ustad Hussain recited a piece evoking invitations to the music lovers that read: come, sit down, get drunk in music, enjoy and go back home. The legend played many such magical sounds including, the sounds of a coach, a stream engine with a whistle together; a picturesque diffusion of melodic rhythm of rain falling on different surfaces; the music of dark clouds, lightning and thunderbolt; topparan (falling of a canon); startling deer and the hunter; a tripalli gaut and the sound resembling the running of horses. --------------------------------------------------- In the 4th Bengal Classical Music Festival held in Dhaka, tabla maestro Ustad Zakir Hussain recital on the tabla, He was accompanied by Nagma in Sarengi by Sabir Khan. He attained his schooling from St. Michael's High School, Mahim and later completed his graduation from St. Xavier's, Mumbai. Being a born prodigy, Hussain started touring the world for his tabla performances, ever since he turned 12. His international career began in 1970 from the United States. He needs no introduction. He is, undoubtedly, the best tabla player in the world. With numerous national and international awards and accolades to his credit, he is a national treasure, not only in India, but worldwide. His consistent and brilliant performances mark him as India's greatest classical musicians. This genius is Ustad Zakir Hussain, the legendary tabla maestro who has contributed largely to the filed of percussion and music at international levels. Since childhood, Zakir Hussain has continuously imparted his formidable knowledge and study to the music world, and has not let it rest till date. The honor of Padma Shri, one of India's civilian honors, made Hussain the youngest percussion to be awarded with this prestigious title. In April 1991, Hussain became one of the youngest musicians to be felicitated with the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award by the President of India in recognition from India's governing cultural institute. Besides, Hussain is also fortunate to have been associated with several bands of Hart, including 'Diga Rhythm Band', 'Planet Drum', 'Bembe Orishas', and 'Global Drum Project'. The first album released by Planet Drum went on to win the first Grammy Award in the category 'Best World Music Album' in 1992. In 2002, Hussain was yet again felicitated with the third highest civilian honor, Padma Bhushan. ┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉ Sabir Khan is the symbol of the sarangi, today, in India. Since the age of 6, he has been trained under the guidance of his father, the legendary Ustad Sultan Khan and his grand-father Ustad Gulab Khan of the Sikar gharana style. Breathtaking, he has already collaborated in his early thirties, with the greatest artists: Zakir Hussain, Kumar Bose, Anindo Chatterjee, Ranjit Barot, Salim and Sulaiman Merchant (Womad 2014), Karsh Kale. Sabir excels in musical improvisations with sustaining melodic and rhythmic skills framed by the raga form and interpreted in vibrant play by which he renders the “hundred colours” of the sarangi, the sublime and most demanding of instruments. Sabir has opened an exciting new phase for North Indian music and the Rajasthani folk compositions that he inherited from his forefathers. He is much appreciated on the international musical scene. ================================== 🔔 Please do Subscribe & enable notifications for more contents from us! 👍 Website: http://www.bengalfoundation.org 👍 Facebook: / bengalfoundat. . 👍 Twitter: / trustfortheart. . 👍 Instagram: / bengalfound.... . ------------------------------------------------------------------------ © Bengal Foundation 2022
