Why Pauli Murray Matters: In Conversation with Bishop John Rabb

As the Episcopal Church celebrates the feast of Pauli Murray, we are reflecting on Murray's ordination. Last Spring, Dean Kelly Brown Douglas led a two-day intensive course titled "Why Pauli Murray Matters: Testament to a New Moral Imaginary." In this class, which was held online and open to the public, we heard from EDS at Union Board of Trustee chair, Bishop John L. Rabb. Bishop Rabb knew Pauli Murray and was ordained with her in 1977 at the Washington National Cathedral. Bishop Rabb and Dean Douglas discuss the climate of the Episcopal Church in the late 1970s as women were first being ordained, Rabb's experience on that day, and Murray's dedication to reconciliation for all people.
