Now that we finally have the title in hand for the 57 Chevy wagon, it’s time to get to work! This car needs a lot of love—the floor pans and rockers are literally "flopping in the breeze." In this video, I’m tackling the rear crossmember/floor brace. The replacement part costs $400 with shipping, so I decided to make my own using about $10 worth of 16-gauge steel and some "CAD" (Cardboard Aided Design) patterns. Watch as I walk through: Fabricating custom floor braces and 9/16 flanges. Modifying "cheap" floor pans to fit the wagon tunnel. Bench-welding the inner and outer rockers to make the install easier. Prepping and painting with etching primer and Rustoleum to keep the rust away. It’s a lot of work, but building it yourself is the only way to stay ahead on a budget project like this. If I tried to lift the body now, it would collapse—so we’re getting the structure solid first! Thanks for following along on this LS-swap journey. #ChevyWagon #57Chevy #LSswap #RustRepair #MetalFabrication #ClassicCarRestoration #BudgetBuild #Welding #DIYAutoBody
