In this keynote talk in Portland, Brenda Davis, RD, presents 5 goals for maximizing health on a vegan or plant-only diet. She discusses macros (protein, carbohydrate, and fat), and micros (vitamins and minerals), maximizing dietary factors that afford protection against chronic disease, minimizing dietary factors that increase risk, and how to make ecologically sustainable food choices. Brenda is an internationally respected Registered Dietician who provides evidence-based information, practical tools and reassurance for those striving to make more compassionate, conscious food choices. She has been a featured speaker at medical, nutrition, and dietetic conferences in 25 countries on six continents. As a prolific nutrition writer, she has authored or co-authored 13 books, with nearly a million copies in print in 12 languages. Her latest book "Plant-Powered Protein" was written along with her Agronomist-Environmentalist son Cory, and fellow RD Vesanto Melina, to provide essential food for thought on human and planetary health. The Compassionate Living Festival marks a welcome return by nonprofit Northwest VEG to be able to help bring together the Vegan Community and promote the essential importance of each person adopting a plant based diet.
