Specifically we're talking about 2016 Mazda CX-5 radios with the non touch screen display and center console radio controls. Using the iDatalink Maestro RR and a Kenwood eXcelon DMX709s Maestro compatible radio, we are able to retain the steering wheel controls, reverse camera and center console controls. When looking to upgrade your Mazda CX-5 radio to Apple CarPlay, there are a few tips to be aware of. Mazda actually offered 2 different style radios for 2016. One with a touch screen radio and one without. The Metra 95-7522b will work with the touch screen style stereo. However, most of the Mazda CX-5 radio failures we see are in vehicles equipped with the non touch screen radio, center console radio controls and leatherette trim on the dash. The Metra 95-7522B won't work for that style dash. You need to obtain the Mazda trim panel made for the non touch screen models to get the job done.
