Ninja To training Soke Kawakami, the only ninja heir recognised in Japan by the goverment, honoray director of the Iga Museum and Mie university professor shows one here:    • JINICHI KAWAKAMI SOKE   NINJATO is a straight-bladed sword that features a square tsuba (guard), or even none at all, and a wider and a shorter blade than the Katana . It should be seen like a long knife, like a survival machete or a farmer tool, more than an actual sword, due to it's crude and low-quality manufacturing process, normally crafted simply by sharpening iron bars and the like. It was also normally used in the same way knives (tanto, for instance) are used, by gripping them with the blade down (reverse grip). Their shorter length led to them drawing their sword faster, enabling them to use quick Battoujutsu killing strikes. The wider blade as well as it's straight trait served both the purpose of effective stabbing (which is quieter and more lethal than slashing)
