Atul Mathur in conversation with Ghazal Khan, CEO of Indian Wheelchair Cricket & Member Divyang Cricket Control Board of India (DCCBI) is quite passionate about working with Divyang Jan and getting them the right place in the field of sports, especially cricket, which runs in the blood of billion-plus Indians. Ghazal has been working for physically challenged players who are passionate about cricket. Each day is a challenge for Ghazal as she faces many problems and barriers to fight for physically challenged players. It is unfortunate that many people think that physically challenged people cannot do anything or they are useless but it is absolutely wrong. Out of hundred people, 95 people thought that it is just a waste of time to join and useless struggle to work for differently enabled people in the field of sports. In the last 14 years of its existence, the Divyang Cricket Control Board of India has won many titles, has many achievements to mention. Physically challenged players are now feeling very happy because they are treated as they are special and they are enjoying playing cricket and living this new life. To play cricket using a wheelchair is not very easy but still, they play with lives on their palms. Wheelchair Cricket is a newly invented form of Cricket and I should say it’s the toughest form. We are the runner-up of the Asia Cup with very little difference. We organize Indian Wheelchair Premier League every year. Indian Wheelchair Premiere League is celebrated as a festival of Wheelchair Cricket. My aim is just to do something for the Divyang CRICKET CONTROL BOARD OF INDIA and for the Welfare of all the physically challenged players. I do believe that one-day Wheelchair Cricket will be loved by all the Cricket lovers and Wheelchair Cricketers will also get the name and fame like a normal Cricket player of the Indian Cricket Team.”
