It's day five of my Black Literary History Series. On February 5, we're learning about Reverend Jermain Loguen, a man who was born into slavery, but refused to think of himself as anything but free. He used the written word as a form of resistance, rebellion and legacy building. Friends with Frederick Douglass and Harriett Tubman, he was known as the King of the Underground Railroad in Syracuse, New York. His dramatic autobiography, The Rev. J. W.
