Embedding Enrichment. Economic Wellbeing and Financial Capability in PSHE education Walton High School is a large Business and Enterprise college in Milton Keynes. It has a programme of Advanced Learning Days, which offer enrichment and are embedded in the curriculum. The entire school participates in a wide range of activities on all of the days. The video shows a range of activities, which took place on the first day of Enterprise Week, explains how and why the school organises the days and the contribution it makes to the curriculum in general. The activities include A Passion for Fashion, which engages students in the development of recycled fashion for a show at the end of the day. They learn about some business concepts, fair trade and environmental issues. The films shows other students participating in a stock market game, an activity to raise funds for assisting the installation of water pumps in Africa and demonstrates the cross curricular, team working involved in the show performance of Notre Dame. The staff discuss the skills, which the students are developing in each of these activities, and how they contribute to their ability to deal with issues relating to their economic wellbeing later in life. Peer and group assessment is also demonstrated in one of the activities. Overall, the film shows the way in which cross-curricular enrichment days can offer compelling learning experiences and enhance the student experience provided that they are properly built into the curriculum.
