THE SONGBIRD: Czech soprano Olga Jelínková studied at The Prague Conservatory and at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. She made her debut as Rosina in České Budějovice. Other roles have included Madame Herz, Queen of the Night, Despina, Olympia, Adele, Amina, Gilda, Violetta, Lucia, Musetta, Cleopatra, Undine, Sophie, and Stravinsky's Nightingale. Jelínková has performed regularly with the Prague State Opera, as well as appearing with the National Theatre in Prague, The Estates Theatre in Prague, Moravian Theatre in Olomouc, and the Volksoper in Vienna. She has toured to Boston, Berlin, Brussels, Saarbrücken, and Antwerp. Jelínková joined the ensemble in Leipzig in 2020. THE MUSIC: Mozart's "Don Giovanni" had its premiere in Prague in 1787. Donna Anna is one of three soprano roles and is typically sung by dramatic voices; however, it was sung by high coloratura soprano Aloysia Weber in the Vienna premiere in 1788 under Mozart's direction. Her first aria "Or sai chi l'onore" has sustained phrases and powerful proclamations, but no florid elements and is rarely ornamented.
