I'm not the biggest fan of growl effects in Vocaloid because I think the growl sounds really fake. But there are instances where it could be useful--for certain words or phrases--you might want a certain punch. And in the mix, it doesn't sound as horrible as it does by itself. Clip 1: Hatsune Miku V4 English using Clean style. No effects in Vocaloid 5 editor (there are some processing like reverb in the DAW) Clip 2: In the Vocal Color box, a setting of 40 is used for Growl. This is a global effect and to me, it sounds exactly the same as using Growl in your Parameters settings. Clip 3: Attack Effect (Tone). Growly. You can hear it has an upward pitch effect. Setting is .5. Clip 3: Attack Effect (Tone). Growly2. A nice gutteral sound. Setting is .5. Clip 4: Attack Effect (Tone). Growly3. Has a very slight downward pitch in the attack. Seems more front loaded. Setting is at .7 Clip 5: Attack Effect (Tone). Growly4. Very pronounced downward pitch on the attack. Setting is .5.
