The Legacy of Fatherhood This show is intended to ignite the father’s role, restore the lost hope of fathers and their children. Vision and Purpose • Purpose: “Empowering fathers to build godly legacies for generations.” • Audience: Fathers, families, young men, church groups and single parents. • Key themes: Biblical fatherhood, legacy, leadership, family values, mentorship. THE CONCEPT The presence of a father is A COVER whereas the absence of a father is a source of so many problems in life due to lack of guidance. If you have a father, you need to wake up to value what you have. The Old Testament concludes with fatherhood and the New Testament begins with Christ the Son of a Father Abraham. Malachi 4: 6 And he will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, And the hearts of the children to their fathers, Lest I come and strike the earth with a curse." Matthew 1:1 The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the Son of David, the Son of Abraham. Considering the launch of Apostle Stephen Senfuma Foundation in 2022, one of the cardinal areas of focus was nurturing the boychild. The boychild in this context refers to the male gender with no age bracket – given that we are all sons and daughters of the Most-High. Under nurturing the boy child, among other targets, we aim at creating a Legacy on Fatherhood. Whereas the world has largely been more vocal on mentoring the girlchild, under ASSEFU we seek to be balanced on both genders but particularly on this area of focus, we aim at being intentional, purposeful, deliberate and more candid on the boychild – out of whom Fatherhood is largely derived. The concept of Fatherhood is multifaceted and multidimensional – ranging from 1. Traditional physical/biological fathers 2. Adoptive fathers 3. Father figures 4. Elder siblings (including children who have transitioned to fatherhood through being victimised by circumstances either by being orphans or being abandoned by parents) 5. Women who have taken on fatherhood by default (Single Mothers – both Abandoned and Widowed) 6. Spiritual fathers (not withstanding female spiritual fathers) 7. Present and Absentee fathers 8. God as a Father The background of this concept paper is to lay out the, a) Present reality of fatherhood – in Uganda and worldwide b) The ideal father. c) Why and how to help fathers who have veered off d) Why and how to align children who have veered off e) In-depth knowledge of God as a Father f) Share real life experiences – failures, triumphs and lessons The presence or absence of fathers has wide ranging implications to a child’s developmental trajectory – physical, emotional and spiritual with long lasting repercussions. Research and common practice suggest there are two major barriers to fathers’ involvement with their children. First, fathers’ relationships with their children is often mediated or moderated by their relationship with the child’s mother (on the spiritual end – the Holy Spirit). When this relationship is fragile, fathers may face greater hurdles to participating fully in their children’s lives. Second, challenges such as fathers not residing with their children, fathers’ own beliefs and trauma history, employment and economic instability, can be barriers to involvement in the lives of their children. SCOPE The Legacy of Fatherhood concept will be run as a pre-recorded interview session on YouTube show that will be airing twice a month, hosting knowledgeable, and legends, great fathers of the land on Apostle Stephen Senfuma Foundation social media handles. Interviewees shall be Fathers in the Nation who have had a long-sounding testimony and good report, whose real-life experiences – failures and triumphs, observations, analysis and encounters have a rich and credible message and impact on Fatherhood – not only from the spiritual eye but also physical angle. The interviewer shall be the - Favour Senfuma.
