The CDC reports that about half of the drivers or passengers killed in crashes in the US weren’t buckled up. Drive without distractions - as tempting as looking at a text or fighting with the GPS is, pull over or, if you have a copilot, ask them to navigate or answer your phone if it's urgent. Before you go - Make sure you are within specs weight ratings / operating characteristics of vehicle Make sure you are within ratings of your hitches. Use a weight distribution and sway control hitch for travle trailers. Make sure weight is distributed properly in your RV Check Tire pressures, maybe consider a Wireless tire pressure monitoring system Plan your route Know the Grades - Marc and Julie’s Mountain Directories grade books are over on Road Gear Reviews Prepare for unknown road conditions - driving new roads be cautious of narrowing roads. Check satellite imagery along your route, also for gas stations and parking lots Check weather conditions - high winds very dangerous, icy conditions, pull off if unsafe - you have your house with you you can just stop! Driving Rvs are big heavy and don't stop like a car Turning corners (practice in parking lot) Speed, dont go too fast, also slow down before going down hill, you will speed up. Visibility, learn to use mirrors / backup camera Changing lanes, merging Overhead Clearance - check out ourGiraffe G4 review Transporting fuel / propane - legalities, ventilated, not going to tip, shut off propane for travel, going over bridges, tunnels, ferries, gas stations Headlights / night time driving - adjust properly for towing Know Emergency Exits in RV - windows, how to operate Know your location while driving - what road, how far to relay to emergency person Drive with door locked - prevent carjacking Rest when tired don't push it - judgement is best when well rested Thank you for watching our videos!
