We touched on many topics, including: • Recognizing that his former beliefs were inherited, not chosen, and needed to be courageously questioned. • The mental dissonance of being an intelligent, thoughtful person still defending irrational beliefs. • Realizing that belief in Jesus was largely built on emotional manipulation and fear-based tactics. • Acknowledging the immense psychological toll of constantly fearing hell and divine judgment. • Recounting how religious trauma created identity confusion and emotional suppression that took years to unwind. • Sharing the liberating experience of no longer having to justify suffering through theological gymnastics. • Embracing the idea that meaning and morality can thrive without religious frameworks or divine mandates. • Reflecting on the deep grief and simultaneous relief of realizing that god was not real. • After deconversion, reconstructing his life with intentionality and curiosity, not bitterness or cynicism.
