A tragic incident unfolded at the Dubai Air Show when India’s indigenous fighter jet, the Tejas Mk1A, crashed during a demonstration flight. Developed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), the aircraft went down around 2:10pm local time. The Indian Air Force (IAF) confirmed that the pilot lost his life in the accident. The Tejas, a 4.5-generation multirole fighter, has been a symbol of India’s push for indigenous defence production. Equipped with an AESA radar, fly-by-wire controls, and capable of carrying a wide range of weapons, the aircraft has been central to India’s modernisation efforts.
