LYHC Reading Room presents “History of Indigenous Education in The Punjab” by G. W. Leitner as Book of the Week. The book discusses the history of contact of two types of education systems; English and Panjabi. The author highlights how the indigenous education of Panjab was crippled, checked, and was nearly destroyed; how opportunities for its healthy revival were either neglected or perverted; and how, far beyond the blame attaching to individuals, British system stands convicted of worse than a failure. At the same time, the single-mindedness of the English officials in the Panjab, and the religious earnestness destroyed education system of Panjab. LYHC invites two outstanding academics and researchers to give insights into the book. From East Punjab (India), Prof. Sukhdev Sohal from Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar and from West Punjab (Pakistan), Aamir Riaz TuTu, an eminent Researcher from Lahore will join us on Sunday 26-07-2020, at 12pm Pak-Time, for the discussion.
