Mathura Peda is the most popular sweet from Braj Bhumi. Made of milk, what else in the land of Krishna, piles of Peda are found in the streets of Mathura, Vrindavan, and Govardhan. Brijwasi Mathura Peda is the most popular of them and I got a chance to visit them. The day starts with the delivery of milk in large milk cans, which is then diligently boiled on slow heat, while constantly stirring. Once it takes the shape of Mawa in golden brown color, it is allowed to cool. Sugar is added to it and then each Peda is hand rolled. Gujhia, Pinni, Mal Pua, Moong Daal Barfi, Motichoor Laddos. Son Papdi and Balu Shahi - some of the other sweets I saw in the making at Brijwasi sweets in Mathura. Enjoy this widely admired sweet Mathura Peda.
