Check out our latest collection: https://nusantaralifestyle.com/range/ Traditional houses (Omah Kuno) form a significant part of Indonesia’s history and are synonymous with Javanese culture and lifestyle. As the country modernizes, many of these traditional wooden houses are replaced with concrete and plaster, rendering the stories and the experiences to the pages of history. Nusantara Lifestyle, as a 100% reclaimed teak furniture manufacturer, aims to change all that. The old teak wood that was used to construct these houses forms the primary material used to develop Nusantara Lifestyle’s furniture. This timber, weathered and hardened over decades, is one of the strongest and most beautiful materials for modern-day furniture products. By reclaiming and reusing this timber, the stories and histories from years gone by are given the opportunity to come alive once more, and ensure our unique pieces are crafted by stories that pulse within each grain of the wood. ‘Omah Kuno’, presented by Nusantara Lifestyle, and produced by @portray_stories, tells the stories and history behind the traditional house structures of Java, revealing the traditions and beliefs behind their design, their construction, and the timber itself that was used to build these beautiful homes. We explore the unique and deep culture of the buildings with architects, traditional builders, and meet people who still use these structures and their timber today. Through this mini-documentary we learn about why and how traditional houses were built and utilized, and do our part to keep the stories of ‘Omah Kuno’ alive for future generations. #sustainablefurniture #reclaimedfurniture #customfurniture #interiordesign #propertydevelopment #hotel #ecoliving #sustainablehomes #ethicaltimber #reclaimedwood #sustainability #sustainabledesign #furniture #recycledwood #recycledwoodfurniture #nusantaralifestyle #ArchDaily #IndonesiaDesign #culture
