English village & countryside near Folkestone, Kent: Hythe to Saltwood (November 2025)

Scenes from a countryside walk - November 2025 It may still be autumn, but the weather has turned cold and windy this month. Many of the autumn leaves have been blown down, and the trees are looking quite wintery now. I took a rural walk from the outskirts of the town of Hythe in Kent, up Blackhouse Hill and then across country to get to the village of Saltwood - a distance of around 2 miles (3km). Along the way I encountered parts of an abandoned railway branch line, as well as an 11th century castle. Map of the route: https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?...
