She says that breast cancer is the biggest cancer in Morocco for women in terms of incidence and mortality. She explains how, in 2010, a collaboration of organisations worked together to develop a breast cancer screening programme in Morocco since it had only been offered by private companies prior to that. Though the scheme is going well, a lack of education and understanding has led to a low participation rate in screening vis-à-vis other countries. This, she says, will need to be addressed going forward.
