Today we will take one of the deepest dives possible into the history of the Krupp Family Dynasty. The Krupps have a rather mysterious early narrative that stems back to the 16th century. As always, take the narrative with a grain of salt, but the Krupps quickly became some of the wealthiest landowners in Europe following an outbreak of the plague. The Merchant Family was said to have taken over numerous factories, with different heads of the Krupp household nearly losing the entire family fortune at different points throughout history. By the 19th century, Friedrich Krupp and his son, Alfred, had pioneered the process of Casting Steel, and quickly their empire grew to one of the largest manufacturers in history. The Krupp Steel factories greatly impacted the process of German Unification, and catapulted Prussia into one of the most powerful kingdoms in the world. Yet the narrative is not without conflict, turmoil and mystery, and by the end of the Second World War, the Krupp Business somehow survived with grace, even after being one of the main contributors to Germany’s achievements. Krupp was given credit for creating or founding some of the greatest Steel Inventions of all time. We will cover all this history, and so much more, while exploring relevant photographs and artistic depictions that may help us to better understand and decipher the narrative. Enjoy!
