A very compact and narrow space, yet can hold 20,000 people plus there livestock & food rations. Underground cities were built during built during the Byzantine era when its inhabitants used it to protect themselves from Muslim Arabs during the Arab-Byzantine Wars between 780 and 1180. Travelled Solo to Cappadocia. I was in constant awe of the beauty, history & culture of this place. It’s a place you need see before you Die!
