Since I graduated from High School, approximately 50 million acres of farmland has been converted to housing and other development. The problem is that the easiest site to build on is also our best farmland. These cheaply built condo houses, where you can hear everything your neighbor is doing, aren't worth it; yet they are highly profitable to build, and people who don't know any better buy them up, go into tremendous debt, and what do they have in the end? You can't do anything but have a warm place to sleep; you can't grow food or have any livestock. A stiff wind would blow them down. There will be a tipping point where most of the most productive soils are covered with these crappy homes and strip malls, and we won't be able to grow food. If you can afford to buy some land at least big enough to have some stock, and a garden, some fruit and nut trees, do it now. Land has skyrocketed lately with no end in sight. Call me to get started.
