Behind The Scenes: Matt Ellis - The Greatest Escape

Matt Ellis and his band celebrate the one year anniversary of his 5th album, “The Greatest Escape”, on Oct 21st, 2015. To mark the occasion, Matt has pieced together a rough, behind the scenes look at what went into making the album, recorded and mixed at Wavelab Studio, Tucson, Arizona. “The Greatest Escape”, 12 songs produced by Matt and mixed by Craig Schumacher has a new, tougher sound that recalls the Australian Singer/Songwriter's early rock roots. Based in California since 2005, Ellis’ sound has evolved effortlessly over the past decade blending Country, Rock and Folk in the tradition of Tom Petty, Neil Young and Ryan Adams. “The Greatest Escape” was the second most added album to Americana Radio in December 2014, a month after its release. Tracks received airplay on BBC Radio in the UK, RTL Radio France, Triple J in Australia and 50 + Stations in the US. Shot on a Flip recorder, phones and narrated by Matt, the five and a half minute doc takes you to recording sessions in Tucson and L.A. showcasing Matt’s band and their organic approach to the process. Huge thanks go to Boyd Peterson for shooting the majority of footage and JD Narro for color and sound. The release of the documentary coincides with Matt’s return to the studio, working on new material. Keep an eye out for a new single coming in the next few months.
