The Guide

How can we support mothers during and just after childbirth and how can we reduce infant mortality? This short film, created with the support of Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), tries to answer these very questions, through the voice of Priyanka Meena, a nurse midwife in Rajasthan. The film focuses on Priyanka’s utilization of Safe Childbirth Checklist (SCC) in the course of her work with mothers, during and immediately after childbirth. SCC is a key part of the Dakshata initiative, which was launched in the Yr. 2015 in Rajasthan by the state government; this initiative focuses on empowering nurses to support women and newborns during and immediately after childbirth, and therefore assists in improving health and saving the lives of both mothers and her children.
