Chloe, also known as "Chlo-e (Song Of the Swamp)" was first introduced in 1927 by Charles Daniel's under the pseudonym of "Neil Moret" and quickly became a show-tune associated with the Broadway show "Africana".... although it apparently was never sung in the show. The lyrics describe someone trying to find someone else and that they'd go through a swamp in that search. Chloe became a jazz standard and, interestingly, very popular with organists. Louis Armstrong performed it in 1952 and Ray Conniff in 1965. It does not have anything to do with the same song title by Elton John in his 1981 album, The Fox. I hope you will enjoy this quirky sounding song as I have. I might suggest that you explore the following channel @PiotrBarcz for an excellent example of a synthesia version of the Ampico roll. Ampico took a much different approach and style to the song as opposed to this QRS/Imperial roll. QRS released roll number 4136 by J. Lawrence Cook in January 1928, and this Imperial roll went into production almost at the same time. • Видео P.S.... No rolls were harmed in the recording of this video 😄 and that broken left-side flange has now been replaced with a different one.
