This weekend was a comedy of errors, with both days seeing me go out to record, and both days finding ways to sabotage myself. I had 3 rigs set up at the old colliery on this morning, one being my ambisonic mic I am still experimenting with and learning, and the other two being set up to run in tandem in a multi channel rig by the waters edge. All went well until I went back out to collect the recorders 2 hours later, where I found the memory card for the main recorder had become full after 45 minutes (about 5 minutes after the birds started waking up!) - someone had neglected to format their SD cards prior to going out. Lesson learned. At least the other mics kept rolling the whole time, and this recording is the result of what were meant to be the outer or surround channels in a wide field left-centre-right channel style recording. An enjoyable morning listening to the birds as usual, just not the result I was expecting! Audio from the zoom m4, with diy em272 omnis in AB spacing, approximately 2.5m apart.
